Ava’s Tea Party- Teasers

Posted on August 16, 2011

So these aren’t exactly teasers, these are all of my daughter and my nieces. Originally, when I first read about Ava’s Tea Party, I planned to do this just with Lily and Ava. As is customary with me, things got out of hand, and next thing we knew we had a super huge day of mini sessions planned! :)

Ava’s Tea Party 2011

Posted on August 15, 2011

On Saturday, July 23, we hosted an amazing day-long mini session~ in memory of a beautiful little girl named Ava. Her parents started a website called Ava’s Tea Party which asks that people hold a tea party in the summer to celebrate life- to celebrate all things beautiful and lovely, and to experience those sweet rights of passage that Ava was not able to experience.

Our charity of choice was Mommy’s Light Lives on Fund.  Mommy’s Light is an amazing organization that helps bereaved children up to age 18 celebrate the special traditions they once experienced with their mothers.  Mommy’s Light is near and dear to my heart, as my sister and I have volunteered with them since 2003 when we lost our own mom to cancer.

Ava’s Tea Party was held on a super hot (~100 degrees!) day in Ambler, and was made possible by several amazing sponsors and volunteers.

That’s My Kinda Party pulled the amazing decor together

Kathy’s Just Desserts baked each participant delicious cupcakes

Voila! Customs by Nicole designed our fabulous save the date, invites, and t-shirts

Falls Flowers made GORGEOUS floral pieces

Reed Silk Studio painted a beautiful table cloth

Tilly Mint’s Tea Room loaned us REAL china pieces!!!

We would have been lost with out MamaCheaps support, Libby, Jen, Melissa, Julie, and Meg’s volunteering day of, and details they added to the decor and day.

Happy Birthday, to Me!

Posted on February 6, 2011

Yayyy! Sunday Snapshots! Where have they been right? I stopped my “extra” segments in the fall when it was the crazy-busy season and then just kind of forgot about it! Today’s Sunday Snapshot is a special edition, for yours truly turns the big 2-8 tomorrow!!! Since my birthday falls on a Monday, we decided to celebrate it on the weekend and make a day of it! I got to choose our route, so I did, with JP and Ava in mind.

Itinerary:

  1. Breakfast at The White Dog Cafe in University City
  2. Shopping at Philadelphia Runner (I had a $50 groupon to use!).
  3. Taking in some exhibits at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, mainly the photography exhibit by Mark Cohen
  4. Cupcakes and peanut butter hot chocolate at Betty’s Speakeasy

Despite the dreary chilly weather, we had a blast together. Ava really held up and only fell asleep right before Bettys (at 2:30pm–way past naptime!), though you know she rallied for treats!  We got home around 5pm and Ava slept from 4pm (starting in the car, then being transferred to her crib at 5)  until 6:30 am!!!!
