My Beautiful, Sassy, Fun-Lovin’ Pickle Petunia.

People often ask me, “You’re a photographer, so who does YOUR photos!?” Thankfully I have a gaggle of amazing friends who happen to be photographers that I can call on. Upon thinking of my daughter’s 1 year old shoot, the one we’ll use for invites for her first birthday party, thank you cards,to give as gifts to family, and to display as prints and in albums…..I got stuck. We’ve done the “in-the-home” thing, we’ve shot in a gorgeous natural light studio, we shot at my alma mater, we shot in a funky Chestnut Hill studio (thank you all you beautiful ladies!)….now what? And who do I ask?
As we started planning our vacation to The Bahamas, it all started to come together. I needed a pettiskirt, stat. Don’t get me wrong, I love tutus, but we have done them to death over here. A first birthday shoot called for something more luxurious! After much drama and a skirt that never came (5 days before our trip, and 4 weeks after I ordered—ps-the pettiskirt link is to amazon.com, NOT the store I had trouble with), I scrapped the idea for a plum colored one, and bought a black one. I needed a gorgeous headband to match the pettiskirt. Shoes? Nah. Shirt? Nah.
Normally for first birthday shoots, we let the babe go wild with a cake to smash. Cake, on a beach? Blech. She loves ice cream, but I wasn’t sure if we’d be able to get that on the beach. Balloons would be cool, but again, we’re in The Bahamas, let’s not get out of control! Ooh! I know! Colorful, fun, sugary, a HUGE swirl pop! We got ours in Disney World.
It was all coming together but I was a mess of nerves. What if it was too sunny? What if Ava was crabby? Can I work under this much PRESSURE? (The pressure was self imposed, but I also knew my husband, sister, brother-in-law, niece, and two aunts would be watching.)
If this worked, it would be amazing.
It did work.
And it was amazing.
Abes is a rockstar….happy almost 1st birthday my little Moodles!

I will post a few more this week. Man, I love that chick!

Yesterday… by Philadelphia Maternity Photographer Caitlin Domanico

Yesterday was a fantastic way to kick off summer sessions. The shoot involved an incredibly tiny and cute mama-to-be, a loving, doting, husband, a gorgeous house with a myriad of staircases, including spirals (two!), a sweet Philadelphia neighborhood, and a rooftop deck that overlooks the art museum.
A photographer’s dream!
Her preview is not ready yet, as we had a busy day with our little lady, but it will be worth the wait!
For now, enjoy this little chick (who else?)- Ava Girl!
