Welcome to Local Love Wednesday!!!! This feature is not sponsored or anything like that, it’s just a way for us to spread the love to awesome businesses!
Local Love Wednesday: Frozen books and app! We are vearing away from local for one more week to review a few books and an app that were sent to us- on our most favorite subject these days- Disney’s movie Frozen! If you have a pre-school-aged child in your home, you are probably Frozen-obsessed just like us, so when we had the opportunity to review a few Frozen products, we said yes right away, and added to our Frozen-themed splendor in our house!
First up, we reviewed Frozen: Storybook Deluxe.
Apps are a big deal in our house, and Ava absolutely loves playing them. We like to save them for 2-3 times a week, especially if we have had a crazy day, just to let her chill out for a little bit. The Frozen app is awesome, there are several activities in there-
All of the activities are engaging and encourage literacy and fine-motor development.
Next, we read A Sister More Life Me. The book is hard-cover and the art is BEAUTIFUL. Ava reads this one daily with me! She loves the pictures, the story and of course, the message, that being different is actually a good thing! This book is also available in an e-book version.
Another of our favorites is the Frozen Read-Along Storybook and CD! The book would be cool enough, as it basically re-tells the entire movie. It’s suggested for 3-5 year-olds, and without the CD, I might suggest using less words throughout the book to more appropriately match a preschool attention-span, but since the CD reads along with you, I have noticed Ava is more able to sustain attention in one sitting.
We have also started reading Frozen: A Novelization. Though this book is suggested for 8-12 year-olds, but we have found that this is really cool book to read before bed. Typically, my husband and Ava sit down for a few minutes to read, and this one is their new favorite! Ava loves spending the time with her daddy, and she thinks it is really special that she is able to experience such a “big-girl” book!
Finally, we love reading A Tale of Two Sisters. This book is perfect for beginning readers, which Ava is currently! She is able to recognize some sight words and “helps” me read the story- which makes it even more interactive and exciting!
If you are like us, you have had a lot of difficulty finding Elsa toys- but believe us, they’re out there and there will be more! We are most excited for the Musical Magic Elsa and Anna dolls from Mattel (SRP: $29.99 each). When you hold the dolls hands (or when they hold each other’s hands) the dolls will magically light up and play enchanting music inspired by the film. We are also looking forward to finding Pull-Apart-Olaf—- Ahhh sooo cute!
Thank you for your nominations and your votes! We WON!!!!!
