Photo Tips Friday: Adding Light with a Reflector
Sometimes you have light in a room, and when you go to make a picture, you notice you need just a smidge more light. There is a simple and inexpensive way to add a bit more light without buying expensive equipment. Try using a reflector!
Reflectors come in all shapes and sizes, and varying price points, but the cheap 5-in-1’s work just fine!
You can also use poster board (or a large white surface) to reflect light.
Along the same lines, you could cover something in tin foil and use that as well!
The easiest way to add light with a reflector? Have your subject hold it, or prop it up against something, and notice how it adds light. Simply position it towards your light source and move it around. You will see the light get stronger and weaker depending on where the reflector is positioned. Find your sweet spot and take your photo, it’s as easy as that!
Have you ever used a reflector? What other tips would you add? Leave a comment below, we cannot wait to hear!
What are your biggest photographic frustrations? List yours in our comment box down below!
You can do it!!!! If you are still having difficulty, you may want to join us in one of our Snap Shops: Photography Workshops for Women. All workshops are in our studio in North Wales, PA, just a quick ride North from Philadelphia.
