I am pleased to announce to you….Baby Alyssa! Her mom is my husband’s cousin. It was exciting to be pregnant as the same time as C, until just after Ava was born, C went into the hospital 3 weeks from her due date, having no idea what was about to unfold.
Alyssa is a true miracle baby- she survived something that has a 1 in 2-3000 chance of happening, something that has a 50-95% fetal mortality rate. Basically, when the cord was forming and connecting to the placenta, it connected incorrectly, leaving it exposed and vulnerable to rupture, which it did. Most often, when a diagnosis such as this is made, the baby has already passed away.
This beautiful girl defied the odds. She was born via emergency c-section, resuscitated, and flown to Thomas Jefferson (an incredible hospital in Philadelphia). She was closely cared for and monitored in her first few weeks of life, and will be continued to be monitored for years for developmental milestones, but so far she continues to WOW all of us! She is on track developmentally!
Not to mention, she’s gorgeous!! Thank you C and J for allowing me to share your story… So many of my friends and family held you in their prayers and continue to do so…and I know how thrilled they will be to see these photos!
As I was saying, I present to you….. Miracle baby, Alyssa!!!!!!
Alyssa’s parents are music teachers so I thought the piano might be fitting…

I grew up down the street from ‘C’ and haven’t seen her in about 15 years! Had no idea she was all grown up with a hubby and baby! CONGRATULATIONS C!!!! She is beautiful!! My older sister (Kirsten) had a miracle of her own baby not so long ago (2 yrs. in OCT)… so your story hits close to home. I couldn’t be happier for you! Your family is in my prayers
